Contingents of police had been closing in on Imran Khan’s residence in Zaman Park to arrest him for the last two days. However, the police started retreating, much to the delight of PTI supporters who had gathered outside. As per police sources, the court-ordered operation had been put on hold to accommodate the ongoing Pakistan Super League matches. Sources also reported that police officials had said that they would not advance on Khan’s residence until the cricket match was over. PTI workers celebrated outside Zaman Park as law enforcement agencies pulled back.

While the situation outside Imran Khan’s residence appears to have calmed down considerably, the police operation remains on hold. It is not clear what steps the police might take once the Pakistan Super League match is over. The ongoing escalation between PTI supporters and law enforcement agencies highlights the ongoing political instability in Pakistan. The situation remains fluid, and it is unclear how the political situation in the country will unfold in the coming days.
